Solid board, punched board, and grid board are the three commonly used types of boards for seedling vehicles, and many buyers may have questions about how to choose the board during the selection stage. There is no absolute superiority or inferiority of different boards, and the core should be judged based on the usage site, seedling cultivation process, cultivation materials, and daily maintenance conditions. The following comparative analysis is based on the actual working conditions of the greenhouse to provide reference for selection.

The solid galvanized steel plate surface is completely sealed, with good overall rigidity and stable load-bearing capacity. The board surface can receive condensed water, water and fertilizer waste liquid dripping from above, avoiding direct dripping of liquid onto the lower seedlings and reducing the situation of lower seedlings being washed away and the substrate being overturned by dripping water. The surface of the board is flat and smooth, and it is easy to clean and rinse residual substrate and fallen leaves, making it less likely to get stuck at the corners of the seedling tray.

Solid boards are more suitable for germination chamber environments. During the germination stage, the environment humidity is high, the space is enclosed, and there is a lot of condensation water. The solid board can absorb the accumulated water and protect the lower sowing tray. It is also suitable for the transportation of finished potted plants and work scenarios that require receiving waste liquids. It should be noted that the air permeability of the sealed board surface is limited. If the ventilation conditions of the site are average, long-term water storage on the board surface will cause high local humidity. It should be used in conjunction with the site ventilation system and should not be used for a long time during the seedling refining stage.

The punched galvanized sheet surface retains the complete frame, and the sheet body is equipped with evenly distributed permeable and breathable holes, balancing structural rigidity and transparency. The load-bearing capacity is better than that of grid boards, and the hole positions can achieve downward drainage of accumulated water, promote air exchange between the upper and lower layers of the board, reduce the probability of waterlogging and root blockage at the bottom of the seedling tray, and allow soil residue to fall down through the holes.

Punching plates are commonly used in the greenhouse seedling refining process. After the emergence of vegetable and flower seedlings, the bottom of the seedling tray can be ventilated and dehumidified to improve the microenvironment of the tray and reduce the occurrence of diseases. It is also suitable for the turnover of seedlings in nurseries. When selecting, attention should be paid to the size of the aperture. If the aperture is too large, it is easy for the edges and corners of the seedling tray to get stuck in the hole. If the aperture is too small, the permeability and ventilation effect will be limited. The selection should be matched with the specifications of the seedling tray on site.

The metal grid board has the highest proportion of hollow holes, outstanding air circulation effect, and free circulation of water vapor, which is conducive to heat dissipation and moisture dissipation at the bottom of the seedling tray. The weight of the board is relatively light, which can reduce the overall weight of the vehicle and make it easier to push and transport.

Grid boards are often used in seedling refining areas and green plant maintenance areas, which require high ventilation and moisture dissipation. But the gaps in the grid are prone to scattering substrate, soil, and dead leaves, and debris may fall to the lower layer or ground, requiring regular cleaning and maintenance. Under the same plate thickness conditions, the rigidity of grid plates is lower than that of solid plates and punched plates. Under heavy load conditions, it is necessary to control the weight of a single layer to prevent deformation of the plate surface.

In practical projects, it is not necessary to use the same type of board uniformly throughout the entire vehicle. It can be used in combination according to the process, with solid boards configured at the germination station and punched or grid boards replaced at the seedling refining station; Partial frames can also be assembled in a mixed manner, with different types of laminates used for the upper and lower layers.

If it is a customized foreign trade project, the selection of boards needs to be based on the commonly used seedling tray specifications in the target market and local greenhouse ventilation conditions. The thickness of the board cannot be ignored. If the thickness is insufficient, any type of board will experience bending deformation during heavy load operations. Based on the modular structure of the seedling cart, the layers can be interchanged in the later stage. After adjusting the production mode, the corresponding types of layers can be replaced to adapt to new operating procedures.
